Martial Arts for Juniors (Ages 7 to 12)

Children aged 7 to 12 will be more mature than younger kids, but their mental and learning processes still differ from that of an adult's. Additionally, the challenges they encounter will also be different from those that face younger children: increased homework load, peer pressure, moving to secondary school … children need to be prepared, both physically and mentally, to meet these new challenges head on.

Our Junior martial art classes are aimed specifically towards children between 7 and 12 years of age. Younger children will benefit more from our Little Dragons program, whilst older children aged 13 and up will be mature enough to join our Adult martial art classes.

In our Junior martial arts lessons, we provide them with the necessary skills to not only defend themselves effectively, but to also deal with the challenges of growing up. These skills will prepare them well as they enter their teenage years and move towards adulthood.

Learning the ABC’s of Martial Arts, and the ABC’s of Life

Every parent wants their child to grow up into a mature, responsible, and well-rounded individual, someone you can be proud of. To achieve this, important life lessons such as courtesy, respect, integrity and honesty must be instilled early on.

In our Junior martial arts classes, we do more than teach your child the basics of kung fu and effective self-defense. At our academy, we believe that a true black belt is not only a good martial artist, but also someone who lives up to the ethos of a kung fu black belt: demonstrating modesty and humility, discipline and self-control, and an indomitable spirit in everything they do.

We encourage our students to always strive to better themselves, to always try their best, and to never give up. In doing so, they learn the importance of positive thinking, perseverance, and a can-do attitude.

Here are just a sample of the benefits some of our delighted parents have noticed in their children:

  • Increased confidence and sense of self-worth
  • Improved focus and concentration
  • Better grades at school
  • Enhanced respect for others
  • Better self-discipline and a sense of responsibility
  • Improved integrity; less likely to bow to peer pressure

As Juniors advance through our grading structure, they are taught more complex techniques, and have the opportunity to work with partners and with various weapons. From the age of 13 onwards, they move on to join our Adult martial art classes.

Our Academy Offers Opportunities for Your Child to Excel

Our Academy's active role within the community provides many opportunities for your child to be involved in a variety of activities. We have raised money for charity, and our association with the Confucius Institute means that our children are frequently involved in public martial arts demonstrations and exhibitions.

Some of our students were casted in the Aladdin pantomime with Gavin and Stacy star Larry Lamb, and a few even appeared on BBC's Blue Peter television program alongside Jack Black of Kung Fu Panda fame.

Participating in these performances are a great boost for the children's confidence, and for the older students, they make an impressive addition to their academic C.V. Many of our students who were involved in these performances have gone on to far greater achievements.
